Artist Statement: This was my first series. My idea came from a rosebud I was painting. I thought at the time that it would make an interesting form. I wanted the motion of the stylized leaf forms to follow the grain  as much as possible, unfirling from within and spiraling outward, bringing new life to the vessel. 1995
